Mr. Winford Cox (known and loved by all as Smokey) was nominated for this year’s Classified School Employee of the Year Award, in the Support Services and Security category. Smokey has worked for the district for 19 years and is currently a Noon Duty Assistant at Sequoia Middle School.

All nominations for Classified School Employee of the Year will be forwarded to County Office of Education offices by mid-February. The county offices will select one nominated employee in each category to be awarded at the state level. The California Department of Education will announce the awardees and hold an Award Ceremony in Sacramento sometime during April 2017.

The overall purpose of the Classified School Employees of the Year Program is to pay tribute to the tireless efforts of our state’s outstanding classified school employees. Classified employees are vital staff members who play key roles in creating a school environment that promotes student achievement, safety, and health.
