A MODERN SEQUOIA CAMPUS

Starting in October 2020 Sequoia Middle School is undergoing the largest modernization project in the Redding School District in the last 30 years.  Built in 1948, Sequoia Middle School has been the hub for educating students in downtown Redding for over 80 years.  Over the years newer areas of the campus have been added, such as the "Two Story" 6th and 7th grade building, as well as an updated Library resource center.  However the oldest part of the campus has been due a facelift.

In 2018 with support from local voters, Measure B was passed granting bond funds to the Redding School District to start modernization projects at many of its campuses. A key area of modernization was the Sequoia Middle Schools oldest wings, receiving new technology, windows, electrical infrastructure, heating and cooling, carpet, paint, casework and more.  Along with this upgrade was the design of a brand new Musical Studies Center.

Music studies has been a focal point for the Redding School District for more than 20 years, providing students with the ability to start an instrument in 3rd grade, and advance to choir, jazz band, orchestra and other advanced studies by the time they reach Sequoia's 8th grade program. With the newly Constructed Music Studies Center adjacent to the world class McLaughlin Performing Arts Center Sequoia Middle Schools campus will continue to inspire the next generation of musical artists.
